Fall is Right Around the Corner...

Fall is fast approaching; while things may operate a little differently this year due to COVID-19, some things still remain the same. The school year is about to begin, many are taking their last vacations of the summer and almost everyone is wondering what this fall will look like in terms of staying healthy. Hopefully Eastern Roots Wellness can help ease the stress of handling a virtual school year for those of you with kids while keeping everyone healthy this cold & flu season.

Here to Help:

Acupuncture for an Enhanced Immune System

With cold & flu season just around the corner, it is imperative that we prioritize our health - especially with the pandemic still around. Acupuncture has been proven to enhance or bolster the immune system - even with just one treatment. One acupuncture treatment has been shown to increase red and white cell counts, T-cell count and enhance humoral and cellular immunity in patients with immune-related illness. Multiple sessions can prolong the immune-enhancing effect, helping the body better able to stay healthy.

Healthy Habits

One unfortunate effect of the pandemic has been stress - both mental and physical - that it has caused on almost all of us. In addition to bolstering the immune system, acupuncture can also help to mitigate the effects of stress on a person as well as undo the damage that it has caused: insomnia, upset stomach, headaches, fatigue, moodiness, enhanced allergy flares, etc. Of course, making sure to get enough sleep (say, by having a good bedtime routine), eating a varied diet and moving when possible are all effective ways to stay healthy and mitigate stress as well. For example, right now eating foods with high levels of vitamins C, D and Zinc are being emphasized for strengthening the immune system.

Call-to-Action

I encourage everyone to make acupuncture a weekly or bi-weekly part of your fall season, due to its' ability to keep you well - physically and mentally. If needed, Traditional Chinese herbal formulas may also be used for particular wellness issues. However, due to the need to keep everyone healthy, there are limitations that Eastern Roots Wellness has put into place. This includes reducing the number of patients that can be seen at any one time.

In addition, the clinic will be closed from Saturday, September 5 through Tuesday, September 8. I will be open again Wednesday, September 9. There is limited availability for the remainder of this week in addition to next week. If you are thinking about coming in, I would encourage you to schedule an appointment sooner rather then later.

As always, never hesitate to reach out to me at sarahalemi@easternrootswellness.com or 571-354-6643. I am here to help your health & wellness needs as best as I can!
